Media success when Greatness PR helped GKN Aerospace launch Ariane 6

6 July marked an important milestone for one of the world’s leading aerospace suppliers, GKN Aerospace, when Europe’s new Ariane 6 rocket was launched from French Guiana. Greatness PR was tasked with managing the communications around the project and ensuring media exposure.

The premiere launch of Europe’s new Ariane 6 space rocket was a success for Swedish GKN Aerospace, which, among other things, manufactured and designed the rocket’s engine turbines and nozzle from its headquarters in Trollhättan Sweden. Prior to the launch, Greatness was commissioned by GKN Aerospace to manage the communication around the event, with the aim of securing media attention and exposure.

To achieve this, Greatness distributed press information and press releases to leading editorial offices and followed up with phone calls. As the launch took place at 21:00 CET, additional contact was also made with editorial offices during the afternoon and early evening. Press materials and Q&As for different scenarios of the outcome were planned, in order to be prepared for any eventualities that might occur.

The result: impact in several national media

Greatness’ work resulted in extensive media coverage, including publications in the Swedish national news agency TT, the national newspaper Dagens Nyheter and features on TV4, one of Sweden’s largest television channels. The public service broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT), which broadcast the launch live, also interviewed GKN Aerospace’s Divisional Director for Space Operations.

Another highlight was the exclusive interview in Sweden’s largest business magazine Dagens industri between GKN Aerospace’s CEO and the Swedish National Space Board’s Director General during Almedalsveckan, which Greatness organised in the days before the launch.
